Discovery
Our Discovery Programme runs daily from 9.15–10.15 for Year 1 students. We have outside activities supervised by teacher aides and inside activites with the classroom teachers.
Aims
- To ensure a smooth transition from pre-school to more formal learning
- To develop social and emotional competence
- To develop oral and expressive language skills
- To provide opportunities for teachers to meet diverse needs of students
Inside Activities
Every child works on a compulsory learning activity with the classroom teacher. Students can choose from independent activites planned to develop the following:
- Fine motor skills
- Letterland alphabet activity
- Art and craft
- Maths or literacy
Outside Activities
Various activities are set up to encourage the following:
- Student directed learning
- Hands on play and exploration
- Creativity and challenges
- New skills and development of existing skills
We have an extensive range of equipment including:
- Skateboards, scooters and bikes
- Dress ups
- Musical instruments
- Carpentry table
- Water and sand equipment
- Paint, dye, play dough
- Balls, bats ropes and hoops
- Bubbles
